LANSING, Mich. — The State of Michigan is delaying the release of its daily COVID-19 report due to a "software issue."

The state's daily numbers on new coronavirus cases and deaths will be released this evening, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services today.

Every day, thousands of results from COVID-19 test laboratories are sent electronically to the health department's Michigan Disease Surveillance System.

Those new data messages are processed through integration software that connects test labs to the state's system.

The integration software malfunctioned last night and stopped processing messages.

The malfunction has been resolved.

The health department said "no information was lost, and all of the messages were retained."

It added, however, that processing the backlog of messages will "take a significant amount of time," and tonight's update "may not represent all data being processed."
