GRAND RAPIDS — Right now, supporting your favorite small business can, in turn, feed a local family or frontline worker.

The Downtown Market in Grand Rapids created thew aptly-named Feed the Family, Feed the Frontline program.

It started in May. Basically, you make a donation to one of the restaurants or merchants inside the Downtown Market. But, the effects of your donation are two-fold.

First, the Downtown Market will find and feed a local family in need or a frontline worker. Plus, your donation will help keep a local small business, like the Juju Birdchicken joint, open and retaining it's employees. Tuesday, the program is making its first delivery. Rak Thai and Juju Bird are feeding 25 families through Arbor Circle.

"A $15 donation will feed one frontline worker and a $60 donation will feed a family of four," owner Yang Hang explained. "I hope that they know that through all this, that we're still here, the community as a whole, we're still here for them."

Your donation is tax-deductible.
