LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 410,295.
The number of cases increased 5,909 from Monday, when there were 404,386 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. On Monday, the state reported 9,350 new cases.
The state says Tuesday afternoon there have been 10,138 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 191 from Monday, when there were 9,947 deaths. That includes 79 identified during a records review. On Monday, the state reported 93 new deaths.
Statewide, 197,750 people have recovered from the virus as of Dec. 8. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 15,019,092 cases, and there have been 284,887 deaths — while 5,404,018 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
