7 Action News is following a troubling trend across the state by people who are refusing to wear a face mask.
There have been several violent acts at stores, stretching from metro Detroit to Flint.
A woman from St. Clair Shores is now charged after she allegedly assaulted a store employee and spat at police officers who responded to the scene.
In Holly, a 68-year-old man has been charged with wiping his face in the shirt sleeve of a Dollar Tree employee .
And now a Flint woman is being held without bond in connection with the murder of a security guard at a Family Dollar. Her husband and son remain on the run.
The widow of that victim is speaking out for the first time.
Calvin Munerlyn was just doing his job, following state orders, while trying to protect the public. He now leaves behind a family of 10.
"He was a devoted, loving, kindhearted, courageous, brave, just comedian," said Latryna Munerlyn, widow of Calvin Munerlyn. "Like he was just love everywhere. He was the father that a lot of the kids didn't have. He was the father figure for them. And take him from me and my family, they took him a lot of other kids that he was out here being a father figure to."
The shooting death of Calvin Munerlyn, is among the most heinous of crimes by people offended with the governor's requirement of wearing a mask at Michigan businesses.
Munerlyn, a security guard at a Family Dollar in Flint, was shot in the back of the head for refusing service to a woman who didn't wear a mask.
One person, Sharmel Teague, has been charged . But the woman's husband, Larry Teague, and son Ramonyea Bishop, who police say pulled the trigger, are still on the run.
As Munerlyn's family of 10 mourns.
"I don't have a message for them. They don't deserve a message from my kids or me. That was senseless. And stupid," said Latryna Munerlyn. "And now my babies are without a father for the rest of their life. One thing they can't take away is my baby was a legendary king. And his legacy will live on. And they can't take that away. Never."
There was disrespect in St. Clair Shores, where 33-year-old Kristen Hoff was told to leave Nino Salvaggio's for failing to wear a mask. She allegedly assaulted a clerk and spit on officers.
Police charged the woman for refusing to be fingerprinted.
Over in Holly, 68-year-old Rex Gomoll has been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery for wiping his nose and face on a store clerk after being told he had to wear a mask.
"Going forward I just ask that people remain calm and think through the decisions they make and the fights they pick if you will," said Holly Police Chief Jerry Narsh. "This is really about the health and well being of those around us. People who if they do get the disease, they can't win that fight and employees who just want to feel like they're safe when they go to work."
Sharmel Teague was arraigned Tuesday on first degree murder and felony firearms. Again, her husband and son are still at large.
