LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Wednesday night an executive order that extends health and safety guidelines for employees and customers of grocery stores and pharmacies.

“I encourage all Michiganders to practice social distancing and wear a face mask when they are out in public so we can protect the heroes on the front lines of this crisis and avoid a second wave of COVID-19,” Whitmer said in a release.

The extended order requires grocery stores and pharmacies to set aside at least two hours a day for shopping by “vulnerable populations,” requires face masks inside grocery stores and pharmacies unless a customer cannot medically tolerate a mask, and notify employees if a staff member tests positive for COVID-19.
