DETROIT — Some employees of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan have volunteered to work with other medical professionals in providing direct care to COVID-19 patients.
The health insurance company said it would continue to pay the salaries of those employees. The company had sent out a call to any employees who are health care specialists such as MDs, nurses, and others, to volunteer to help in life-saving efforts.
About 30 employees have volunteered.
As of April 9, Michigan had 21,504 COVID-19 cases and a total of 1,076 deaths.
