HASTINGS, Mich. — Currently, Barry County has seven people who have been confirmed to have the coronavirus and another 18 who are being watched by the county health department.
Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf noted the numbers in a Facebook post Wednesday.
The number of police calls reporting possible crimes is down, he said, but the number of calls about domestic problems is up.
Sheriff Leaf also noted the involvement of alcohol in incidents lately. Alcohol sales is up during the stay-at-home period, and dealing with inebriated suspects is more of a problem than normal. In his post, Leaf noted that some drunk suspects have claimed to have COVID-19 when they didn't.
