95,071 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 95,071.

The number of cases increased 374 from yesterday, when there were 94,697 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this evening. Yesterday, the state reported 419 new cases.

Today's number of new cases is "less than expected due to a recent issue with the reporting of electronic lab results."

The state says there have been 6,378 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 10 from yesterday, when there were 6,368 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 19 new deaths.

Statewide, 67,778 people have recovered from the virus as of Aug. 14. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 5,615,998 cases, and there have been 175,204 deaths — while 1,946,866 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
