LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to to 74,725.
The number of cases increased 573 from yesterday, when there were 74,152 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 489 new cases.
The state says there have been 6,135 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 9 from yesterday, when there were 6,126 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 7 new deaths.
Statewide, 55,162 people have recovered from the virus as of July 17. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 3,858,686 cases, and there have been 141,`426 deaths — while 1,160,087 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
