69,722 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to to 69,722.

The number of cases increased 384 from yesterday, when there were 69,338 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 390 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,075 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 7 from yesterday, when there were 6,068 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 1 new deaths.

Statewide, 53,867 people have recovered from the virus as of July 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 3,336,154 cases, and there have been 135,400 deaths — while 1,006,326 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
