67,683 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 67,683.

The number of cases has increased 446 from yesterday, when there were 67,237 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 610 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,024 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 9 from yesterday, when there were 6,015 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 10 new deaths.

Statewide, 52,841 people have recovered from the virus as of July 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 3,081,383 cases, and there have been 132,803 deaths — while 953,420 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
