LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 59,107.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 108 from yesterday, when there were 58,999 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 129 new cases.
The state says there have been 5,698 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 25 from yesterday, when there were 5,673 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 17 new deaths.
Statewide, 42,041 people have recovered from the virus as of June 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 1,968,867 cases, and there have been 111,491 deaths — while 518,522 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
