LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 50,504.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 425 from yesterday, when there were 50,079 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 497 new cases.
The state says there have been 4,880 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 55 from yesterday, when there were 4,825 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 38 new deaths.
Statewide, 28,234 people have recovered from the virus as of May 15. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 1,456,029 cases, and there have been 88,211 deaths — while 250,747 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
