38,210 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 38,210.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported the latest numbers of cases in the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.

The number of cases has increased 432 from yesterday, when there were 37,778 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 575 new cases.

The state says there have been 3,407 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 92 from yesterday, when there were 3,315 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 41 new deaths.

Statewide, 8,342 people have recovered from the virus as of April 24. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 979,077 cases, and there have been 55,563 deaths — while 107,526 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
