128,923 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 128,923.

The number of cases increased 1,407 from Saturday, when there were 127,516 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Numbers are no longer reported on Sunday. On Saturday, the state reported 1,158 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,816 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 15 from Saturday, when there were 6,801 deaths. On Saturday, the state reported 13 new deaths.

Statewide, 99,521 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 2. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 7,436,207 cases, and there have been 209,938 deaths — while 2,911,734 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
