108,595 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 108,595.

The number of cases increased 783 from yesterday, when there were 107,812 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 441 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,552 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 13 from yesterday, when there were 6,539 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported one new death.

Statewide, 80,678 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 6,334,158 cases, and there have been 189,972 deaths — while 2,359,111 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
