With hospitals across America focused on people who have developed COVID-19, some people with unrelated- but still urgent- heal ht problems are feeling awkward about reporting to emergency rooms.
But people with serious symptoms shouldn't ignore them, especially if they're suffering from a heart attack or stroke.
Jeanne Lasargebono, executive director of the American Heart Association of West Michigan explained to Fox 17 how to seek help during this strange time.
If you or someone in your household is experiencing symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, head to the emergency room immediately.
Heart Attack Symptoms
- Chest discomfort
- Discomfort in other areas of the upper body
- Shortness of breath
- Other possible signs include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.
Stroke Symptoms
- Face drooping
- Arm weakness
- Slurred speech
