Combining cultural traditions and imagery with contemporary themes, The Art of the People: Contemporary Anishinaabe Artists, is a new exhibition at the Muskegon Museum of Art.

The exhibition is intended to bring attention to contemporary Anishinaabe artists with ties to the Great Lakes region. The show is a partnership with GVSU Art Gallery and guest curator, Jason Quigno.

The artworks address a wide range of media and themes. Traditional baskets and beadwork appear alongside modern paintings, jewelry, and photography.

Also on display are the paintings of Ojibwe artist Jim Denomie and photographs of Standing Rock by Levi Rickert.

The Muskegon Museum of Art is located at 296 West Webster in downtown Muskegon.
