We never realized how much we took for granted, like the ability to freely travel, until we were told we could no longer travel. According to Airbnb, this desire has lead to a new trend called "wishlist wanderlust."

After months of spending time indoors, Americans are daydreaming about the day when they can again travel regularly and report feeling optimistic as a result. In the spirit of this wanderlust, Airbnb released the most wish-listed unique stays across all 50 states from 2020.

Here in Michigan, the most wish-listed listing is this leafy A-frame nestled in Indian River.

In 2021, a range of domestic locations in national parks, winter ski, and beach towns are becoming the most popular. This shows a departure from traditional seasonal travel; traditional vacation getaway destinations are now preferred year-round.

For adventurers who were looking to broaden their horizons virtually, Airbnb has also rounded up the 2020 most booked Online Experiences across all 50 states. For Michigan, it’s this Balinese Indonesian cooking class, out of North Denpasar, Indonesia.
