Specialty coffees served in cafes and coffee shops can be as much as 700 calories per cup due to sugary ingredients, which isn't great for those looking to eat healthily. Instead of giving up that daily cup of coffee, there is an entire list of ingredients found right in the kitchen that can give coffee-lovers that extra sweet flavor in their drink, without compromising a healthy lifestyle.

Grace Derocha, a registered dietician, diabetes educator, and National Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics says these alternative sweeteners and flavor enhancers are low in calories, and will add that extra flavor to morning coffee:

  • Unsweetened Cocoa
  • Coconut Oil
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Almond Extract
  • Peppermint Extract
  • Collagen
  • Turmeric
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Matcha
