KALAMAZOO, Mich. — At Blue Dolphin in Kalamazoo, there is a line around the door for Christmas dinner.

More than 30 volunteers come back year after year to provide 1,500 people prime rib ham dinners at no cost.

Owner Steve Stamos says this is a special day.

“A lot of people, it’s not about the meal, a lot of people just want somebody to talk to, it’s not about the meal, it’s about the fellowship and the conversation, and someone just to say Merry Christmas,” Blue Dolphin Owner Steve Stamous said.

Tammy Carey came here with her son Brandon to enjoy Christmas dinner. For her family, like many gathered at the Blue Dolphin, it's about more than the dinner.

“It’s a nice place to go and not feel left out. A lot of people don’t have families this time of year,” Tammy Carey said.
