GRAND RAPIDS — If you haven’t gotten your Christmas tree yet there’s still time! You can make a trip up north for this fun outdoor experience. Your family can purchase a Christmas tree permit through Huron Manistee National Forest allowing you to cut up to three Christmas trees for 5 dollars each. If you have a new 4th or 5th grader at home your student can get a special pass to get a that perfect Christmas tree for free!

National forest officers suggest letting someone know what part of the forest you are heading to, dress appropriately for the weather and pack a saw and some rope. If you would like to create a cool Christmas tree family memory head north and harvest your own tree! Log on to recreation.gov and search Huron Manistee National Forest to buy your tree permit and head out into the woods.
