CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — 60-year-old Mack Lyon Velthouse was hospitalized after crashing his car into a tree.

The Cassopolis resident was headed north on O'Keefe Rd. at about 8:13 p.m. Wednesday evening, according to Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Velthouse was turning east onto Kelsey Lake St. when he lost control, drove through a curve, and struck a tree. He was taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Deputies said he was wearing his seat belt at the time and that alcohol does not appear to factor.

Also assisting at the scene were Central Cass Fire Department and Lifecare Ambulance.
