Elevated manganese levels found in Portage wells

Posted

PORTAGE, Mich. — Elevated levels of manganese were found in two of Portage’s water wells.

Health officials said tests determined there was too much manganese in two backup wells that aren’t used on a daily basis, which have since been shut off.

Manganese is a necessary nutrient, but too much of it in drinking water is harmful to some people.
