One of the biggest expenses of having a baby are the diapers. On average, the cost of buying diapers per month is more than $60.

There are no government programs that help with the cost of diapers and wipes, but there is a way to help those in need locally by donating to the third annual Kalamazoo Stripping and Derusting Diaper Derby.

Last year in 2015, Kalamazoo Stripping and Derusting collected 31,000 diapers for families in need. For 2016 their goal is to collect 50,000 packs of diapers, pullups, and wipes.

They organization is collecting diapers of all sizes for the Elizabeth Upjohn Community Healing Center in Portage.

Donations can be dropped off at 3921 East Centre Street in Portage between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. They'll be accepting donations through December 19.
