GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Snow will soon be falling in West Michigan, and some people probably have some yard work to get done before that happens.

A new app can help, changing the way you mow, rake and plow and make it easier than ever.

Plowz and Mowz is a free app for iPhone and Android devices that connects people with certified and licenced lawn care services in your area. Once you sign on, you can get free quotes for the job based on the square footage or your yard, and how many trees you have.

You can schedule a crew to come out just once, or sign up for a bi-weekly or seasonal plan. Once a contractor is picked, they send someone to your house and the fee is charged to the credit card linked in the app. The app started with just plowing, but then expanded into lawn care and now leaf removal.

Michael Theakston, owner of Theakston Landscape, says the app has almost doubled his work load.

After every job, a picture is sent to the homeowner to verify a job well done.
