Southern Mich. -- Republican Tim Walberg won his re-election bid for the 7th congressional district seat. The district covers southern Michigan and Walberg has held the seat for four non-consecutive terms.
"I had an opportunity to show the people of the 7th district that what I say I will do, and that, while being a conservative I'm willing to work with both sides of the aisle and a wide perspective," Walberg said.
The incumbent defeated democrat Gretchen Driskell and libertarian Ken Proctor. Driskell has served as a state representative since 2012 and was mayor of Saline for 14 years.
"We worked really hard and I'm really proud of our team. We got to meet a lot of really fantastic people," Driskell said.
She added, "I do plan on staying involved in policy. That's really important to me."
