GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 12-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was allegedly stabbed by another boy around 8 o’clock Wednesday evening.

Grand Rapids Police say the 8-year-old had been arguing with younger siblings at a home in the 900 block of Caulfield SW when the 12-year-old tried to intervene. Police say at that point, the 8-year-old grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper torso.

The 12-year-old is in critical but stable condition at the hospital. Police say he’s going into surgery.

The 8-year-old suspect is in juvenile detention.

Police say there was an adult man at the home as well, but couldn’t comment on any potential relationships between the three.
