ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Grand Valley State University hosted 'Bystander Intervention Training' on Tuesday after four sexual assaults happened near campus this semester.
The meeting was intended to give people the tools to intervene without putting themselves in danger. Officials say while many think sexual assaults are random and in public places, far too often they're happening with someone the victim knows and in private settings like a party or a friend's apartment.
Students say they came to the meeting on Tuesday to learn how to protect themselves and others from becoming victims. The training was put on by the 'It's On Us' campaign at GVSU.
No arrests have been made in connection with the four sexual assaults that happened near the GVSU campus.
