ALLENDALE, Mich. - Grand Valley State University and Consumers Energy are installing lights along a stretch of road after several reports of sexual assaults in the area this year.
GVSU officials say that there has never been permanent lighting along 48th Avenue. Consumers Energy is working with Allendale Township officials to make it happen. In the meantime, they are putting up temporary light towers.
There have been four reports of sexual assaults since the fall semester began in August. All were in off-campus areas near the school. One robbery last week was also reported. No arrests have been made.
