OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A Grand Haven teenager was hospitalized in serious condition after her vehicle flipped over and hit a tree Sunday morning.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Kendall Richards, 19, of Grand Haven was driving a 2002 Buick westbound on Lincoln Street west of 152nd Avenue in Grand Haven Township when she either fell asleep or had a medical incident. Her vehicle traveled on the gravel portion of the roadway’s westbound lane for more than 100 yards before hitting several mailboxes, overturning and hitting a tree.
Deputies said Richards was wearing her seat belt at the time.
She was transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where she was listed in serious condition later Sunday.
The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
