COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — An alligator was removed from a Grand Rapids area apartment complex on Saturday.

A resident discovered the alligator in a garage at the York Creek Apartments in Comstock Park. Animal control was called out to the complex before 3:00 p.m., according to an official with the Kent County Health Department.

The gator was between three and four feet long.

It's illegal to own an alligator in Kent County, but officials say it's not the first time the Kent County Animal Control has dealt with this type of situation.

The healthy alligator is resting comfortably and is being cared for at the Kent County Animal Shelter. Authorities are investigating to determine who owns the reptile.
