GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – We’d like to make a correction regarding a story from Thursday evening’s broadcast.

Photo from Houseman Field – Forest Hills Central students 9/9/16

In a story that night, we identified Connor Schwinkendorf as one of the Forest Hills students holding flags at a high school football game on September 9.  The flags were for Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy and a Betsy Ross flag, which some see as a symbol of racism, but others say it is a simple patriotic flag.

Connor was in the student section that night, but was not one of the students with the flag.  Connor wrote a public apology on Thursday for the behavior of the student section to anyone offended. But, he was not one of the students with the flags.  Those students remain unidentified.

Connor and his family tell us there was a miscommunication between him and our reporter that led us to identify Connor as one of the flag holders.  That was incorrect and we apologize to Connor and his family for the error.
