GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Mercy Health gave their bariatric patients a chance at experiencing life in a new way by sending them to Michigan’s Adventure for a day.
For many bariatric patients, life before weight-loss surgery didn’t allow them to do or enjoy recreational activities. Now after finishing the bariatric program through Mercy Health, they finally got that chance.
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) say that bariatric surgery is one of the most effective treatments for metabolic diseases including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, liver disease and sleep apnea.
ASMBS also says after completing surgery, patients usually benefit from increased life expectancy, resolution of health issues and long-term weight loss.
