WEST MICHIGAN — West Michigan is home to 2 of only 4 hospitals in the state to receive perfect scores, according to a new ratings system.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) looked at Michigan’s 111 hospitals and judged them based on 64 criteria, some notable ones including re-admission rates, overuse of diagnostic testing, and complications after surgery. Four in the state were given perfect 5-star ratings.
In West Michigan, those hospitals were Holland Community Hospital in Holland and Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
Most hospitals in the state scored three-stars or less.
CMS is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
