Construction on Patterson Avenue could affect your trip to the airport

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — With lane closures in effect until October, construction work on Patterson Avenue could mean longer travel times to get to Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Patterson Avenue is the main artery, along with 44th Street, for access to the airport’s passenger terminal.

Construction is planned on Patterson Avenue until October 28 from Burton Street to the north to M-37 Broadmoor Avenue to the south. The Kent County Road Commission plans to keep at least one lane open in both directions during the project.

Approaching the airport from the south, it’s not possible to avoid lane closures, since there is a project on 44th Street between Broadmoor Avenue and Patterson Avenue.

And there’s no way to avoid lane closures approaching the airport from the north. You can minimize the time spent in the construction by using 36th Street, especially from I-96.
