KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Kalamazoo mother will stand trial for the March death of her four-year-old daughter.
Daveeta Walker is charged in the murder of Kharisma Richardson. A judge determined Wednesday that there is enough evidence to send her case to trial.
Police testified that when they went to Walker's home in March, they found Kharisma lying unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom. They tried to revive the girl and noticed bruises on her body.
The prosecutor says that at the time of her death, she had 33 scars and 91 abrasions on her torso alone. She also had 18 burns and 59 more abrasions on her arms and legs.
Police said that during an interview with Walker, she admitted to "whopping" Kharisma numerous times a day because she wasn't completely potty-trained.
A trial date has not yet been set.
