Summer is the time where you gather the whole family and go on a trip, but sometimes it's not in the budget to go on an extravagant trip.
At the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute, you can spend time with the family enjoying nature, without having to spend a dime.
Cedar Creek is located on 742 acres of land just nine miles south of Hastings in rural Barry County. Their mission is to inspire appreciation and stewardship of the environment, and provide educational programs and seasonal activities that the whole family can enjoy.
It's completely free to walk the grounds of the nature center. You can enjoy miles of hiking trails, seasonal art exhibits, and attend special events.
On Saturday, July 16, you can learn to cook healthy summer foods at the Fresh and Simple Summer Appetizers class. The class goes from 3-5 p.m., and is limited to the first 20 people.
Tickets for members cost $20, and $25 for non-members.
Pierce Cedar Creek Institute is located on 701 W. Cloverdale Road. For more information on the institute and more upcoming events, call (269) 721-4190.
