Investigators look for new tips in 2004 homicide

TUSTIN, Mich. – A task force of Michigan State Police detectives and the Osceola County Prosecutor is looking again at a 2004 homicide of a Tustin, Michigan resident.

Esther Gaffney, then 80 years old, lived alone at her home on Tustin Road.  She was found dead inside her home on July 12, 2004.  Investigators at the time concluded that her death was a homicide.

Investigators say that they have had tips in Gaffney’s death over the last 12 years, but they are hoping that advances in forensic science and technology will generate new leads.  Also, as time passes, sometimes witness feel more comfortable coming forward with critical information.
