Police: Robbery suspect died of self-inflicted gunshot wound

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Police Department says a man suspected of robbing a Wyoming credit union died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and not from gunfire from police.

Frank Anthony Kelley, 38, was shot and killed June 13 in the 4700 block of Holyoke SE.

A Kentwood officer said he shot Kelley when Kelley pointed a gun at him.   While police did fire at Kelley, a medical examiner ruled Friday that the fatal shot came from Kelley’s handgun.

Kelley was suspected of robbing the ATL Federal Credit Union in the 800 block of 36th Street in Wyoming.
