FOX 17's Josh Sidorowicz reports LIVE from Orlando.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A man who frequented the Orlando Pulse night club says Omar Mateen, the man police say killed 49 patrons and wounded dozens of others, was a regular at the club and even tried to pick up men.
Jim Van Horn, 71, says Mateen even once talked to him about his ex-wife.
Despite Mateen's pledge of support to the Islamic State, other possible explanations for the shooting have emerged, including questions of whether he was conflicted about his sexuality.
Meanwhile, the White House says President Barack Obama will travel to Orlando on Thursday to pay respects to the victims of the weekend shooting at a gay nightclub.
Obama has called the shooting an act of terrorism and hate.
The FBI says there is no evidence of a plot and that Mateen expressed support of several radical groups, including some at odds with each other.
Vigils were held across the country for the 49 people killed.
In New York City, Monday night, thousands of people crowded the streets around the Stonewall Inn in Manhattan, where large-scale gay rights activism got its start in 1969.
At the site of Sunday morning's shooting, thousands of people gathered to support the victims and survivors.
At Los Angeles City Hall, Lady Gaga began a joint reading of the victims' names.
