Son of man killed in Kalamazoo bicycle crash offers forgiveness to driver

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The son of one of the men who died in a bicycle crash earlier this week has posted an open letter to the man accused of killing him.

Mark Paulik’s father, Larry, died Tuesday evening, when a pickup truck crashed into a group of bicycle riders on north Westnedge Avenue.  Five riders were killed and four were injured.  Charles Pickett, Jr. is awaiting formal charges on five counts of 2nd Degree Murder and four counts of Reckless Driving Causing Injury.

In the letter posted today on Mark’s Facebook page, Mark says that even though he and his family are in pain, he forgives Pickett.  He asks Pickett to accept the forgiveness, by being truthful in court regarding the accusations against him and also by educating others about the incident to help prevent future tragedies like this.  He also asks Pickett to learn about the victims in the crash.  You can read the letter below:
