ZEELAND, Mich. – The Ottawa County Sheriff is investigating a suspicious situation involving a teenage jogger Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened about 2:30pm as the 15-year-old girl was jogging northbound on 104th Avenue, approaching the intersection of Riley Street, according to deputies.
They say as she was jogging she saw a man in a gray sedan in the right turn lane of Riley, waiting to go southbound on 104th. The man, who is described as a white male in 50s or 60s, with a shaved head, possibly missing some teeth and had “overly large eyes,” was smiling and laughing at her.
Riley Street was where she was to turn around, so she turned and started heading back south on 104th. The man went on ahead of her and pulled into a driveway. Then, the girl told investigators that the man motioned to her and she thought he was requesting that she get into his car. She then turned around and ran from the area. The man did not follow her and never got out of his car, nor said anything to her. He was last seen driving east on Riley Street from 104th.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office at (616) 738-4000.
