An important way to keep your tires in great shape is maintaining your shocks and struts.

Belle Tire wants to help drivers get the most out of their investment on tires by providing maintenance tips that allow them to prevent things like tire wear.

Shocks or struts keep the tires planted firmly on the ground.  If a vehicle's tires lose contact with the road, the vehicle will be harder to control.  When a shock or strut is worn it can impact vehicle handling, braking, ride quality and tire wear.

Shocks and struts work with other parts of the vehicle like suspension, alignment and steering systems.  If they're ignored, repairs will be more costly.

These parts should be checked every 50,000 miles, they will help keep the vehicle from swaying on turns and bouncing.

Your shocks and struts need to be replaced if:

  • Your vehicle is rolling or bouncing when you drive around corners
  • Your vehicle excessively dips when you are braking
  • Your vehicle sways when you hit a bump in the road

Belle Tire's automotive experts will look for "cupping," a specific wear pattern associated with socks and struts.  They'll help you pick out new shocks or struts that best suit your vehicle.
