May is stroke awareness month, and there are multiple signs to watch out for if you or a loved one has a stroke.
Signs of a stroke include:
• Numbness or weakness of face, arm or leg.
• Confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.
• Trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
• Trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
• Severe headache with no known cause.
If you think you see someone having a stroke, there is an easy way to remember how to look for the signs and how to act:
• Face: Ask the person to smile.
• Arm: Ask the person to raise both arms.
• Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence.
• Time: If you notice any of these signs, call 911 immediately.
