GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A police chase that had dozens of cruisers in pursuit of a suspect created a lot of attention downtown on Thursday evening.
The suspect, a convicted felon, is now back in jail. He’s accused of shooting his girlfriend and leading police on a wild chase through downtown Grand Rapids.
One of the witnesses who saw the chase talked about how he was in the perfect place to get amazing video.
"As soon as they drew their guns all the other cops converged from all sides of the road," said Colton Beveridge, who shot video of the chase.
Colton was working 50 feet up on a scissor lift on the side of the B.O.B., facing Fulton Street.
"And then that's right when my video picked up, was right as they let all the other cars go by. The red car just tries to escape with them and then one of the cops tries to block him,” Beveridge said.
The intense chase continued through the city before coming to an end near John Ball Park.
“Basically we saw that red car drive by going 80 miles an hour at first 3 cars chasing it then 10 more,” said Al Kalinan, a witness to the chase.
The intense scene made other witnesses nervous.
“He was going really fast, went around the corner and almost went head on with a car and went out of control and went up the hill and that’s when all I saw was cop cars coming in, probably at least a dozen or so come in there and they pulled their weapons.” Said Brian Boyd, a witness to the chase.
Prosecutors say Theo Little is being charged as a fourth time felony offender, which adds another potential 25 years to his sentence.
