LANSING, Mich. — An 18-year-old man is facing several charges after police say he shot a pregnant woman Monday.
Kyeole Shakur Mitchell is charged with assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearms in connection with the shooting.
Police were called to the 3200 block of Reo Road at about 11:16 p.m. Monday and found the 20-year-old pregnant woman in a car with a gunshot wound. Police say Mitchell opened fire after getting into an argument with a male passenger in the vehicle.
The woman was taken the hospital and gave birth, according to a release from Lansing Police. The infant is in stable condition and the woman is in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Mitchell is scheduled to be back in court May 4.
