Hope football program adds another former HS coach

HOLLAND, Mich. – New Hope College football coach Peter Stuursma is adding to his staff and taking from the local high school football coaching ranks.

Stuursma announced over the weekend he has added Irv Sigler as his Offensive Coordinator.

Sigler has been an assistant football coach since 2013 at Grand Rapids Christian High School and a Physical Education instructor.  Before that, Sigler spent time as head football coach at Jenison High School, Grandville High School and Cadillac High School.  He was also head coach at a high school in Marietta, Georgia at one time.

According to his Hope College bio, Sigler started in 1990 as a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan under Gary Moeller.

Stuursma was announced as the new Hope College coach in January after spending 16 years as head football coach at East Grand Rapids High School, winning seven state championships.
