911 calls released of Horton Avenue fire

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- On Thursday, FOX 17 obtained the 911 calls from the house fire that almost claimed a  woman's life.

It happened in early February at a home on Horton Avenue in Grand Rapids.

The woman's friend called 911 and said they both fell alseep during a phone call. He said he then woke up to the sound of fire alarms.

"Ok, I was talking to my friend on the phone and she said she was going to cook some chicken tenders," said the friend. "I fell asleep, and I`m pretty sure she fell asleep, and I woke up when I heard her fire alarm going off."

Emergency crews arrived to find the woman unconcious.

She's now recovered. Authorties believe the fire started in the kitchen.
