MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — A man is in custody on Aggravated Assault charges, after police say he tried to break through his roommate’s bedroom door with a hammer early Monday morning.

It happened at around 4:00 a.m. in Mecosta County’s Green Township.  Police say everything started with an argument between two roommates.  During the argument, one of them locked himself in his bedroom, but it did not end there.  His 24-year-old roommate is accused of getting a hammer and swinging it through the bedroom door.

At one point, the hammer almost struck the victim in the head as he was bracing against the door.  He grabbed a gun and fired a warning shot from inside his bedroom in an effort to get his roommate to stop the attack.

Police arrived and arrested the roommate, who will be arraigned some time this week.
